Action Safety Supply Co. |
|
Action Safety Supply, located near Oklahoma City, offers traffic safety products, road management barricade systems, markers panels, sand bags, general purpose road safety traffic cones, traffic control signs, traffic control systems and other transportation safety products. When your business is supplying traffic safety and control equipment plus offering paint striping and striping removal contracting services, customer service is paramount. Jerry Hietpas, Action’s President, explained,"The old cliché that 20% of your customers provide 80% of your business is reversed for us. On the rental side of the business, we have to constantly set the standard. Customers can rent barricades, arrow boards, cones, and delineators from lots of companies. So it’s critical that our deliveries are made on time. That damaged units are promptly repaired or replaced. That field service operations are performed on schedule. And that we’re able to respond to emergency situations quickly.” Being in the safety business also carries added liabilities. If an accident occurs because of damaged or malfunctioning safety equipment, the company may be held responsible. With Teletrac, Action can verify when a technician arrives, what service was performed, and when the technician leaves the job. The company is also protected against false claims of vehicle damage caused by signs blowing off the company’s trucks or reports of unsafe driving. “The vast majority of claims turn out to be false accusations. In the past, we would have accepted responsibility and absorbed the cost as part of the cost of doing business. Now with Fleet Director, we can ask a few simple questions and immediately determine if the complaint is legitimate.” Teletrac ‘s Fleet Director has also delivered major dividends on the pavement side of the business. “Before Teletrac, an entire crew would be on-site just waiting while preparations were still being made. That added up to a lot of expensive unproductive time, especially when a single striping truck can represent a $525,000 investment, plus all of the support vehicles. Now, support crews are shifted from one location to another, so they are always with a striping convoy that is ready to begin work. Jobs are completed faster and ‘stand by’ times have been greatly reduced. “ Management can also now check manual time sheets against the documented Teletrac records. If any discrepancies are noted, these can be quickly corrected. Other reports allow Action to document all job site arrivals, on-site and departure times as well as all messages sent and received. These reports provide the company with 100% validation and measurement of its employees’ performance. Mr. Hietpas summarizes his experience with Teletrac:“Teletrac has proven to be an important tool in helping us achieve our high standards of performance. Our Teletrac system helps us manage the planned and the unplanned with less stress and with significant cost savings. Jobs are completed faster and expensive non-productive 'stand by' times have been greatly reduced.” |
