Triple B Services, L.L.P. |
|
When vandals use your own equipment to destroy $3 million worth of equipment and cause another $2 million of job site damage and repair, it gets your attention. For Triple B Services, the solution was to equip every piece of its construction equipment, rental equipment, and 52 field service trucks with Fleet Director. According to Stoney Welch, operations manager for Triple B Services, after a loss of $5 million in equipment and site damages, the decision to bring Fleet Director onboard was clear. “Not a single piece of equipment has been lost since Fleet Director was installed. The accuracy of Fleet Director’s GPS tracking & location units was also instrumental in letting us recover an $85,000 backhoe that was hidden in a warehouse several hundred miles away, after this initial loss” said Mr. Welch. If a piece of equipment is started up during unauthorized hours or is moved beyond an approved geographic area, designated personnel are immediately notified via pager, cell phone or on their computer monitor. The engine-on/engine-off records are also used to document equipment job cost factors. The equipment data, when combined with the fleet data, gives the company accurate information on total job site activities: equipment assigned to each job, hours on the project/location, and total fleet miles logged to support a job. This information becomes a valuable tool when estimating new work or supporting additional cost claims. Further, since Fleet Director records the equipment’s engine operating hours, Triple B has been able to automate field maintenance schedules. Mr. Welch summarized his feelings about Fleet Director with,“Nothing leaves our yard without a Teletrac unit. We found out the hard way that Fleet Director is well worth the investment to protect the company’s assets.” |
