Spectrum

CTO_straight-on_fleshTeletrac’s Fleet Director 8.5 – the most advanced intelligent driving solution available today – offers users a unique combination of integrated, award winning technology with Spectrum™, helping users reduce costs and enhance driver/dispatcher coordination.

Spectrum offers powerful SmartNav vehicle navigation software that seamlessly integrates with Fleet Director 8.5 GPS vehicle tracking to provide turn-by-turn (TBT) verbal driving directions. Drivers are guided along the most time-saving route while full color touchscreen displays map the route for clearest understanding.

Spectrum with SmartNav automatically finds the most fuel- and time- efficient routes using minute-by-minute traffic data to avoid tie-ups.

Live traffic information alerts dispatchers to potential delays so they can rearrange route priorities and coordinate vehicles on the fly and lets them identify the nearest vehicle to the customer for accurate estimated time of arrival —a substantial step forward for enhancing the customer’s service experience.

With 2-way messaging capabilities and voice prompted navigation, communications with your drivers become more efficient and effective than ever before. The interactive color display enables drivers to:

  • Follow a route using detailed color mapping to see their complete journey from beginning to end — at the touch of the screen, with considerable detail that only a color display can offer
  • View green guidance lines to highlight the vehicle’s route ahead, while speed, distance to destination, estimated time of arrival and current time are continuously displayed across the bottom of the map
  • Receive visual alerts indicating traffic patterns and congestion via 2D views
  • Use the auto zoom function to pan across the map, in and out, even when not on a route and/or automatically increase the zoom level at junctions and intersections, easily visualizing an exact position
  • Download routes by full address and postal code entry, through a choice of up to 20 ‘favorite’ destinations pre-set by the driver, and/or last five saved destinations
  • Quickly access via a “fly-in bar” volume, suspend, resume, and re-route functions

The added visibility and ease of use provided by the Spectrum’s color touchscreen, lets drivers gain immediate benefits of real-time messaging, making communications fast, simple and effective.

With real-time messaging drivers can:

  • FD8SendRouteManage communications with the touch of a finger, scrolling and an inbox
  • Send and receive standard default messages, use fill-in forms, and free text messages, touching the appropriate icons for easy, quick, safe and efficient communications
  • Inform dispatch about jobsite arrivals, departures, availability, breaks as well as start time and end of day information
  • Transmit work order numbers, customer information and job details
  • Request parts, additional technical assistance or driving directions, and when a job is complete, the next job with complete information can be waiting in-cab
  • Verify records with time stamp and location information for record-keeping purposes dispute resolution
  • Archive messages so that information can be used for reference by management, or for future clarification purposes in customer billing disputes or timesheet issues
  • Eliminate hazardous practices such as jotting down information while negotiating traffic
Further, Spectrum guides drivers to their destinations using the most fuel and time efficient routes available — using live traffic information.

FD8Nearest Spectrum uses SmartNav GPS-delivered location information to provide detailed guidance to virtually any destination. Route calculations are based on both live incident data and expected daily traffic behavior. Throughout the trip, SmartNav continues to monitor traffic conditions and instantly contacts the vehicle if a better route develops.

Dispatchers can simply enter a street address or an unlimited number of landmarked locations. Or, send routes to vehicles by cross streets, points of interest and zip codes ─ which is extremely useful in situations where dispatchers only have cross street and address information, a common occurrence for many businesses such as in the vehicle towing sector.

The information is forwarded to the designated unit, and the driver is notified via messaging that a route has been loaded to the vehicle. As the vehicle begins moving, the driver receives verbal instructions guiding the vehicle to the destination. Upon arriving at the destination, dispatch automatically receives notification.

Alternatively, by using the color touchscreen, drivers can request their own route, by entering a street address or one of 20 pre-set favorite destinations. Places of interest such as gas stations, parking, hotels and railway stations, among others, are clearly displayed on the map enabling easy and efficient navigation.

Spectrum with the color touchscreen allows fleet managers and drivers to communicate quickly and clearly. When combined with flexible 2-way messaging and Turn-By-Turn navigation, users gain a complete fleet management system that’s more powerful than ever for maximizing operations efficiency and safety.

Additionally, using Fleet Director Spectrum allows you to dramatically reduce the risk of road breakdowns and resulting schedule disruptions with on board vehicle diagnostics and vehicle monitoring
