SmartNav, GPS Tracking and Mapping |
|
For business owners and dispatchers, lost and delayed drivers mean wasted dollars, unnecessary fuel expense, and frustrated and unhappy customers because of missed schedules. Teletrac’s powerful SmartNav vehicle navigation software seamlessly integrates with Fleet Director GPS vehicle tracking to provide automated, turn-by-turn verbal driving directions. Drivers are guided along the most time-saving routes while full-color displays map routes for clearest understanding. If a driver goes off route by turning in the wrong direction or missing a turn, Fleet Director automatically revises directions to get the driver back on track.
Further, the ability to send routes to vehicles by cross streets, points of interest and zip codes as well as address and landmarked locations, is extremely useful in situations where dispatchers only have cross street and address information, a common occurrence for many businesses such as in the vehicle towing sector. SmartNav allows dispatchers to automate several actions related to selecting vehicles, assigning destinations and downloading route driving directions. Dispatchers can simply enter a street address or an unlimited number of landmarked locations. The information is forwarded to the designated vehicle and the driver is notified that a route has been loaded. Further, the ability to send routes to vehicles by cross streets, points of interest and zip codes as well as address and landmarked locations, is extremely useful in situations where dispatchers only have cross street and address information, a common occurrence for many businesses such as in the vehicle towing sector. Drivers begin receiving real time, speed calibrated, verbal instructions guiding them to a destination. If the driver goes off route by turning in the wrong direction or missing a turn, the driver automatically begins receiving revised directions to get back on the correct route. Upon arriving at a destination, route guidance is automatically cancelled, and dispatch automatically receives notification.
By using the optional Color Touchscreen, drivers can request a route by entering a street address or a pre-set favorite destination. The Color Touchscreen also provides visual route guidance. SmartNav uses the latest GPS-delivered location information to provide detailed guidance to virtually any destination. Route calculations are based on both live incident data and expected daily traffic behavior. Throughout the trip, SmartNav continues to monitor traffic conditions and automatically contacts the vehicle if a better route develops. Within the Fleet Director GPS tracking fleet management system, it is possible to designate if a vehicle is a Class 8 truck. When a vehicle in this category is assigned a destination or the driver selects a route via the Color Touchscreen, the SmartNav route provided is calculated to take into account the height, weight and width restrictions of the vehicle classification.
